Custom Builder Leather Jackets Inspired by the Arlen Ness Aesthetic

The Arlen Ness design language is specific — clean lines, chopper-rooted silhouettes, hardware that sits flush rather than decorative. At Devilson, we build arlen ness leather jackets that draw from that custom builder tradition, cut in-house from genuine hide and constructed without shortcuts on stitching or closure hardware.

We use top-grain cowhide for the body and collar — dense enough to hold the structured silhouette this style demands. Where the fit requires movement, we bring in softer nappa lambskin at the sleeve and underarm. YKK zippers run every closure, and we use solid brass snap buttons on plackets and cuffs rather than painted alloy.

All pieces run XS through 5XL — custom sizing available, and we accept bespoke hardware and panel requests before order confirmation.

Note: These pieces are independently manufactured by Devilson, inspired by the custom builder aesthetic. No official affiliation with Arlen Ness Enterprises or Tucker Powersports.

Construction, Fit, and Longevity

The top-grain cowhide we use on these jackets runs 1.2–1.4mm — heavier than a standard riding jacket because the biker silhouette needs that weight to drape and hold correctly at the shoulder. Nappa lambskin sleeves sit at 0.8mm, cut slightly longer than standard to account for the natural ride-up when arms are extended.

We stitch all external seams with bonded waxed thread and double-run every panel join at the chest and back yoke. The full viscose lining is sewn in at the hem and cuff, giving a clean internal finish that slides easily over a shirt or light layer.

What’s in this category:

  • Classic biker silhouettes with asymmetric zip fronts and wide snap-button lapels
  • Clean-cut café-style jackets with minimal paneling and gunmetal hardware finish
  • Embossed and hand-tooled cowhide options referencing custom chopper detailing
  • Collarless and band-collar variants for riders who prefer a cleaner neckline

Sizing notes:

  • Biker-silhouette cuts run true to size through the chest with a relaxed lower body — no need to size up unless you layer heavily
  • Café-style cuts are slightly slimmer through the torso — size up one if you prefer room to move
  • Measure chest, shoulder width, and arm length — all three sit on the product page size chart
  • Custom panel layout, hardware finish, or fit adjustments available on request

Care:

Wipe the cowhide surface with a damp cloth and dry naturally away from heat. Condition with a wax-based leather balm once or twice a year — the heavier hide on these styles holds up longer between treatments than lighter lambskin pieces. Hang on a wide hanger to preserve the shoulder shape.
